Biography
Ahmad Shawqi was an Egyptian poet and playwright who earned the title of 'Prince of Poets' in the Arab world. His work, which spanned both poetry and drama, was instrumental in the revival of Arabic literature. He introduced new poetic forms to Arabic poetry, drawing inspiration from European literature while deeply rooted in classical Arabic traditions. Shawqi's notable works include his epic poems, which celebrated Islamic history and Arabic heritage, and his plays that often tackled social issues and historical themes. His house in Cairo has been transformed into a museum dedicated to his life and work.
