Biography

Cali Mahmud Taha was a Sudanese religious thinker and theologian. He founded the Republican Brotherhood, a group that sought to reform Islamic thought and practice. Taha advocated for a reinterpretation of Islamic scriptures in the light of modernity and rationality. He emphasized the importance of reason and spiritual freedom in understanding Islam. His most controversial work, 'The Second Message of Islam', argued for a progressive interpretation of the Quran, challenging traditional views.
