Biography
Farah Antun was a Syrian intellectual, translator, and novelist. He founded the influential magazine Al-Jamia in Alexandria, which became a platform for his ideas on reform and modernity. Antun is best known for his translations of European works into Arabic, including those of Darwin and Spencer, which introduced new scientific and philosophical ideas to the Arab world. His novel, 'The New Jerusalem,' explores themes of religious tolerance and social justice, reflecting his advocacy for enlightenment and rationalism in the face of traditional beliefs.
