Biography
Ibn Cali Karaki Camili, also known as al-Sheikh al-A'zam and Amir al-Mu'minin fi al-Fiqh within the Twelver Shi'a community, was a distinguished Islamic jurist and theologian. Originally from Jabal Amil (present-day Lebanon), he later moved to Iran, where he significantly contributed to the spread of Shi'a Islam. His works, notably on Islamic jurisprudence and principles of jurisprudence, played a crucial role in the development of Shi'a legal thought. Among his renowned contributions is the enhancement of the institution of Marja'iyya, solidifying the socio-political role of Shi'a scholars.
