Biography

Ibn Faḍl Allāh al-ʿUmarī was an Islamic scholar and bureaucrat who made significant contributions to the fields of geography and history. He is best known for his encyclopedic work, 'Masālik al-abṣār fī mamālik al-amṣār,' which provides detailed descriptions of different regions, their political systems, and cultures. Another notable work, 'At-ta'rīf bi-l-muṣṭalaḥ aš-šarīf,' focuses on administrative and governmental terms, reflecting his deep involvement in the administration of the Mamluk Sultanate.
