Biography

Ibn al-Jazzar, known as Abū Ja'far Ahmad ibn Ibrahim ibn Abi Khalid al-Qayrawani, was a distinguished physician from Qayrawan, in present-day Tunisia. He is renowned for his contributions to the field of medicine, particularly through his seminal work, 'Zād al-Musāfir wa Qūt al-Ḥāḍir' (Provision for the Traveller and Nourishment for the Sedentary), which became a cornerstone in medical literature. This work was widely referenced and translated, serving as a key medical reference in Europe during the Middle Ages.
