Biography
Ibn al-Muqaffā was a noted Persian translator and writer who significantly contributed to the cross-cultural flow of ideas in the Islamic world. He is best remembered for his translation of the 'Kalimāt wa Dimnā,' the Arabic adaptation of the ancient Indian collection of fables known as Panchatantra. This work is an enduring classic intended to impart moral lessons through animal stories. Besides his translation endeavors, Ibn al-Muqaffā also produced original works in prose, which reflect his deep engagement with ethical, administrative, and philosophical themes, marking a new era in Arabic literature.
