Usāma ibn Munqidh was a Muslim warrior, poet, and writer from the 12th century, renowned for his work in the fields of literature and history. He is best known for his autobiography, 'Kitab al-I'tibar' (The Book of Learning by Example), which provides a valuable perspective on the Crusades from the viewpoint of a Muslim contemporary.
