Jacfar Sharicat Madar Astarabadi was a Persian scholar and a pivotal figure in the development of Akhbari thought within Twelver Shi'ism. He is best known for his vehement critique of Usuli practices, which he viewed as innovations in Islamic jurisprudence. His most notable work, 'Al-Fawa'id al-Madaniyya', is a comprehensive attack on the Usuli school, advocating for a strict adherence to the Quran and Hadith as the sole sources of law.
