Biography

Khalil Farahidi was a pioneering Arab philologist and lexicographer, renowned for his foundational contributions to Arabic grammar and lexicography. He is credited with compiling the first dictionary of the Arabic language, laying the groundwork for future lexicographical works. His most notable contribution to Arabic linguistics is the Kitab al-'Ayn, considered the first dictionary in Arabic, which has had a profound influence on the development of Arabic lexicography. Farahidi's work in phonetics and metrics also established him as a leading figure in the study of Arabic prosody.
