Biography
Al-Khwarazmi was a Persian scholar who flourished during the Abbasid Caliphate. He made significant contributions to mathematics, astronomy, and geography. Al-Khwarazmi's seminal work, 'Al-Kitab al-Mukhtasar fi Hisab al-Jabr wal-Muqabala,' laid the foundations for algebra, introducing systematic solutions of linear and quadratic equations. His work on Indian numerals played a crucial role in the development of the decimal number system. Al-Khwarazmi's geographical treatise significantly revised Ptolemy's Geography, containing comprehensive maps and details of the known world.
