Biography

Abu'l-Su'ud Muhammad ibn 'Ali Iskandar al-Husayni was an eminent Ottoman jurist and Qur'anic exegete. He served as the Shaykh al-Islām under the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Notably, he authored the renowned Tafsir, "Irshad al-'Aql al-Salim ila Mazaya al-Kitab al-Karim," a comprehensive exegesis hailed for bridging jurisprudence with spiritual insight. His legal acumen was pivotal in drafting numerous edicts that aligned with Islamic law, while also accommodating the sultanic ambitions and administrative needs of the Ottoman Empire. His contributions greatly influenced the religious and legal thought of his time.
