Biography
Muhammad Mascad Yaqut, known as Yaqut al-Hamawi, was an esteemed geographer and biographer. Originating from the Byzantine Empire, he was captured and sold into slavery, eventually finding freedom and dedicating his life to scholarly pursuits. His travels across the Islamic world allowed him to gather a wealth of geographical and historical knowledge. His most notable works include 'Mu'jam al-Buldan,' an extensive geographical dictionary, and 'Mu'jam al-Udaba,' a biographical dictionary of poets and scholars, which remain invaluable resources for researchers and scholars in the fields of geography and history.
