Biography
Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi was an influential Islamic scholar who served as the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Mosque and the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar University, one of the most prestigious Islamic institutions. He was known for his moderate views and efforts to modernize Islamic thought. Tantawi authored numerous works on Islamic jurisprudence and law, including a notable 30-volume commentary on the Quran. His interpretations and rulings on contemporary issues, ranging from financial transactions to medical ethics, sought to adapt Islamic principles to the modern world.
