Biography

Rashid Rida was a Syrian-Egyptian Islamic scholar, reformer, and founder of the magazine Al-Manar. He is best known for his advocacy of Islamic modernism and his efforts to reconcile Islamic tradition with modernity. Through Al-Manar, he propagated his ideas on reforming Islamic thought and education, emphasizing the need for rationalism in interpreting the Quran and Sunnah. His works often focused on the challenges Muslims faced due to colonialism and the decline of Islamic civilization. He also played a significant role in the early 20th-century Islamic revival movements.
