Biography

Sayyid Qutb was an Egyptian author, educator, Islamic theorist, and poet. He is best known for his works in the field of Islam and modernity. His most influential work, 'Ma'alim fi al-Tariq' ('Milestones'), along with his tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis) 'Fi Zilal al-Qur'an' ('In the Shade of the Qur'an'), has been widely read and has influenced Islamic movements around the world. Qutb's writings emphasized the role of Islam in public and private life, advocating for an Islamic society governed by Sharia law.
