Biography

Taqi al-Din al-Shami was a scholar and polymath who lived in the Ottoman Empire. Renowned for his work in astronomy, mathematics, and engineering, he built the Istanbul Observatory, one of the largest in its time. His works include significant contributions to astronomical instruments and the development of the timekeeping mechanisms. Taqi al-Din's book, "The Greatest Accomplishment," focuses on astronomical theory and practice. He also explored the field of optics and devised innovative devices like the automatic spit and a steam turbine, demonstrating his pioneering spirit in balancing scientific inquiry with practical applications.
