Ṯābit ibn Qurra was a distinguished mathematician, astronomer, and physician. He made significant contributions to algebra, geometry, and astronomy, translating and expanding upon the works of ancient Greek scholars. His work on conic sections and the theory of numbers laid foundational stones for future mathematicians. In astronomy, he improved upon Ptolemy's theories and was instrumental in developing the theory of the trepidation of the equinoxes. As a physician, his writings contributed to the fields of medicine and pharmacology, bridging the gap between ancient and medieval Islamic scientific knowledge.
