Biography

Wadi' Bustani was a Lebanese intellectual and writer, renowned for his contributions to Arabic literature and journalism. He was instrumental in the Nahda, the Arab cultural renaissance of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Bustani excelled in poetry, translation, and journalism, making significant strides in modernizing Arabic prose and poetry. He translated many works from English and French into Arabic, enriching the Arabic library with global knowledge. His efforts in journalism were marked by his role in founding and editing several influential newspapers and magazines, through which he advocated for educational and social reforms.
