Biography

Yuhanna Ibn Masawayh was a physician and teacher, originating from the city of Gondishapur in Persia. He made significant contributions to the fields of medicine, particularly in the areas of anatomy, physiology, and pathology. He served at the Abbasid court in Baghdad, where he was a mentor to the famous physician, Rhazes. His works include treatises on ophthalmology, fevers, headaches, and medical ethics. His approach combined the empirical methods of observation and experience with the theoretical knowledge of the time, bridging the gap between ancient and medieval medicine.
